Matthew E. Kiely
My legal career began in Baltimore, Maryland in 1989 when I began practicing at a commercial litigation firm representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of matters, including commercial disputes, tort actions and product liability cases. From 1989 to 2000, I tried dozens of cases to verdict, gaining invaluable experience in the courtroom.
In 2000, I, along with two of my partners, formed the firm of Parker, Dumler & Kiely, where we continued our litigation practice, representing individuals, corporations and partnerships in a wide variety of disputes. At PDK, our practice focused extensively on the representation of individuals with mesothelioma against corporations that were responsible for our clients’ exposure to asbestos. During that time, I not only tried several cases to verdict and obtained multi-million dollar verdicts for my clients, but I also collected millions of dollars in settlements for them.
In 2011, my two partners retired from the practice of law and I continued to practice as a sole practitioner in Baltimore. My practice continued to focus on the representation of asbestos victims, but I also continued to represent clients in business disputes, securities cases and personal injury actions.
In 2017, I joined Brown form Brown Kiely. I have collaborated with Dan Brown on asbestos cases for more than 15 years. Dan and I have successfully resolved numerous asbestos cases on behalf of our clients in both the District of Columbia and Maryland and I look forward to continuing to do so now that I have become a member of Brown Kiely.
